We are an alliance of community groups, each seeking alternative grassroots visions and plans for the future of our communities. We agree that housing is a human right. We fight displacement, disruption, and the racial inequalities that result from rezonings, privitizations, and land use changes made without community consent.
Current land use changes chiefly serve developers, not the people of New York City. We call for development that is just, sustainable, and meets our individual community and neighborhood needs.
We, as the people who are most affected by development in our neighborhoods, understand what our communities need to evolve and thrive. Therefore we seek to establish a truly democratic land use process in which we have power to shape the future of our own neighborhoods.
